Ordered new Fujifilm gear

I ordered a Fujifilm X-T2 with 18-55mm kit lens last night and hoping to get my hands on it before the weekend. Possible, but I am not holding my breath. I opted for the 18-55, rather than the 18-135, which I was thinking of simply because that combination was not offered. Also, I think I want to have the equivalent of 24-70 as one of my work lenses with a decent f-stop. I was considering the 16-55 f2.8, and I may get it one day, but at this time I can’t justify paying 4 times as much for a lens that offers very little over the 18-55 and comes with no IOS either. I am not that interested in the fast f2.8 because I ordered a 23mm f2 last night also, which will give me the shallow depth of field if I want it.

The 23mm f2 was ordered from B&H. It’s the only place I could find that has them in stock. Other usual online stores have them on the site, but not available to ship at this moment. The conversion rate with US$ is ok-ish now, and the price I paid with postage was actually cheaper than any other online store that has it listed. I’m hoping to get it within a week, or by the next weekend.

I’m thinking of ordering 2-3 more lenses next week after I’ve played with the new X-T2 and decided that I really want to make the switch. The other lenses are the 10-24mm f4, the 50-140mm f2.8 and maybe the 35mm f2 as well. the only thing that wil be missing from the line-up is a good TTL flash, which at the moment is just not available for Fuji at all. Nissin i40 no longer works, and their own flash has been postponed yet again. Myself I’m waiting for the new Metz m400, which hopefully will be smaller than the new Fuji flash and a bit cheaper too.

I hope I get the new TTL flash before our next weeding. I need to practice a bit. However, I am seriously considering using my flash in manual mode anyway. I like the consistency that it gives me with a constant amount of light it emits. TTL can be really tricky at a wedding with a lot of people wearing black or white. It confuses the TTL no end.

So, this week I’m hoping to get the X-T2 with 18-55mm lens. Next week the other lenses and I’ll line up a few people for a test portrait shoot a week after. I’m excited. I really hope I can switch to Fujifilm and eventually sell my Canon gear. I’m hoping the 50-140mm lens performs as well as my Canon 70-200 does now. If that is the case then I really have no need to stick with Canon. Will see.
