Pszczyna Castle lies in Southern Poland, close to the border with the Czech Republic. The first mention of that castle dates back to the 13th century. I really don’t think that any part of this current castle is that old, but the history of this castle is long.

To be honest, this castle is not on a list of top destinations I wanted to visit, but, it’s very close to where my sister lives, therefore it was a good choice for a day-trip. Actually the castle itself was closed to tourists on that day, but it didn’t matter; we enjoyed the surroundings. The park around the castle is quite impressive and it is very well maintained.

We went for a stroll around the park. Also visited a small zoo on the grounds. They had a number of different animals, including European Bison or Zubr. This all felt like a Sunday afternoon. Unhurried and very pleasant.

Lunch at the town square was great. Well, it was pizza, which by definition is great. A couple of beers to fill up the gaps.. and we were done for the day.

I took a few pictures of my sister’s family in front of the castle.
