Is this the best yum-cha in Hurstville? That’s always subjective, but we voted with our feet, so It’s a genuine opinion. We’ve come here more than the other places in Hurstville, so I am happy to conclude that Golden Sands is the best Yum-Cha in Hurstville.
For starters, it’s much cheaper than the other places. The food is delicious, but that can be said about other places as well. What we like about this place is that within a minute of being there we had our table set and food on the table as well. The service was good and pretty quick. We looked at each other and smiled when the first trolley arrived at our table before we even got comfortable at our table.
This is a good feeling. I mean we like the idea of getting in, getting fed and getting out and doing our things. I hate having to wait 45 minutes for my food to arrive. That’s 45 minutes staring at people who are already eating while I’m sitting there anxious and hungry. It’s just cruel. Yum cha is a great restaurant for me as the food is already cooked, and ready to be eaten. And I can chose the food by looking at it. No nasty surprises when the water sets a huge plate on my table with a little bit of something in the middle of it. Well, I don’t eat in places like that anymore.
I never regarded eating as a pleasure that should be relished. For me it was always something i have to do to allow me to do things that I actually want to do. I don’t “dine”. I don’t drink my coffee holding the fine china coffee cup with the pinky sticking up. I don’t waste time in restaurants because there is a life to be lived outside. I just go in to get fed, because it’s much easier to enjoy life with a full stomach.
That is why I go to yum-cha often. It’s fast, the food is great, and the eyes get to choose the dishes. Plus there is no need to learn fancy names for fancy dishes like people do in French restaurants. I just point at the dish and i get it. The Golden Sands in Hurstville is a place I’ll visit again. And I’m pretty sure I’ll be satisfied.
